League Notes

-Community League is underway with newcomer JD Simmons out of the gate fast and leading the pack with a net 32.  The LaMar Brothers along with JD and partner Karry Stoll lead the team standings with 11 points each.  We have seven teams in the league, down from fifteen a year ago.  Additional teams are welcome to join up this week, play 18 holes (both week one and week two), and be part of the fun for the summer.  Eric Bird and Short Jeffers had the low gross scores for the first week, each coming in with a 38.

-The Tuesday Men and the Thursday Match Play Leagues play the fourth and final round of the Team Handicapped Tournament this week.  The Tuesday tournament has two teams tied at the top at minus 9:  Terry Butcher and Rob Sterling, and Short Jeffers and Jack Divine.  Thursday leaders are Tony Wease and Charlie Sheetz.

-Kevin Johnson again had the round of the week, a second straight 33.  His round included three birds, five pars and one bogey.

-Best net round of the week:  A tie at 29, a score turned in by Tuesday Men Ryan Johnson and Jack Divine.

-Best Team score of the week: Short Jeffers and Jack Divine's 62 on Tuesday.  Impressive.

-No eagles (that I recall) in league play last week; no hole-in-ones either.  Did have one of each at the golf course though:  Souerdike, Walton and Allen got an eagle in the Saturday Morning Scramble; and DJ Harder notched his third ace at Lakeview on Thursday night out at #7.

-Rules Reminder:  Give yourself a penalty stroke if you have to move your ball out from under a tree or bush or away from the fence.  Back years ago when we had planted a bunch of young trees and bushes, we allowed for a free drop while the plants got themselves established.  They have done that and the free drop is no longer an option.

-Rules Reminder 2:  On hole #1, the ditch down the left side of the fairway is a hazard, the bank leading up to the highway is out of bounds.  If your tee shot is up on the bank - tee up again from the tee box - you'll be hitting your third shot.  If your ball is in the ditch - take the distance, drop where the ball ran into the ditch and access yourself a penalty stroke - again you'll be hitting your third shot but will have gained the distance.

-Final note:  Women in both the Thursday Match Play League and the Community League are playing #1 from the 185 yard line.  Red tee blocks have been moved down there and the hole reverts to a par four rather than the par five from up above.
