Other hole prize winners included Jack Lents on #3, Mike Bird on #7 and Dick Barber on #9. Both Bird and Barber went on to make birdies to go with their hole prizes. Other birdies were collected by Virgil Harper and Al Kavanuagh at #6, and Ray Shaw at #9. Most pars at five were gathered by Jack Butcher and Junior Byron. Of note: Wilma Bateman had a super round going through eight holes, took a triple bogey on her ninth, #4, and still finished with a fine net round of four under par. Dick Barber and John Chapman had Mike Bird and Richard Swayze on the ropes until their last hole where they each took a double par, which tied the holes and gave low net to their opponents. Twenty-one of thirty players had net par rounds or better. Average gross for the group was 48.57, half a stroke better than last week.
