update 10pm: I missed a score of 58 in the team results; that would be TJ McAtee and sub Josh Hawkins efforts yesterday. So, low net score goes to the Burch/McAtee team and all those other teams are relegated to second place for the night. Thanks for the heads up, TJ.
The results of the Individual Handicapped Tournament are finally in and Tim Voegerl is our winner with a net score for the eighteen hole event of 59. Noah Callahan, the leader after the first nine holes, finished second with a 60. Tied for third place with 64's were Tom McAtee, Jim Murphy and Virgil Harper.
Event 8 highlights: A sterling outing for TJ McAtee with a 34 gross and a net of 26; TJ played a lot of golf this past week and even came out Monday night and practiced his putting. Bryant Trambaugh and Noah Callahan shot net 30's to tie for second place in low net while Kevin Johnson tied TJ in low gross with another 34. Low net team was also a tie with three teams shooting 62's: John Drake and Dean Winkler, Todd Baker and Noah Callahan, and Kyle Jones (subbing for Mike Breeden) and Bryant Trambaugh. James Hager shot a 35 and saw his handicap drop to zero, making him the first of our regulars to reach that plateau. Super subs Mark Potts and Kevin Johnson maintain a sub zero handicap. Eight hole prizes, four from the rained delayed Event 7, were claimed by the following players: Kevin Johnson, Chris Bledsoe, Mike Bird, Chuck Baker, Dave Wininger, Greg Potts, Ryan Johnson and Tom McAtee. The standings show Terry Padgett and Gary Burris leading Larry Sutton and Brent Courter by a single point in the Team competition; James Hager has a 43 point lead on Dave Wininger in the Individual competition.
The majority of the players completed their rain delayed event 7 rounds with Mike Arvin and Tom McAtee firing the low net rounds with scores of 29. Short Jeffers shot a 34 and James Hager a 35 for low gross. Team low net was shared by James Hager and Ryan Johnson with the team of Junior and Kevin Byron.
Of note: Tim Voegerl prepared for his golf game by reading a little more of Leo Tolstoy's War and Peace. Greg Potts had his first ball on #5 sail out of bounds and his second hit a tree and bound back beyond the tee box and onto #4 green. Dave Strange had much better luck with two of his putts from just off the green finding the bottom of the cup.
