Ron Wilde, the guy from Hannibal, Missouri, formerly of Shoals, tried his best to take away the June 8th, 2012 championship but fell a couple of shots shy. His 18 hole total of 76 came up short of toppling Mike Bird's 74. Bird, up two with three to go, finished par, bogey, bogey but that was good enough as Wilde had to go for broke and ended up with a double bogey at the last, the par four #1 hole. Both players enjoyed leads in the see-saw battle played under sunny skies on a beautiful Friday morning at Lakeview.
