Bits and Pieces

-Curt Johnson had a pretty good day with his putter yesterday morning in the scramble.  His Scotty Cameron rolled in all but one of the four and five footers and rocked the world with longer birdie putts at both #7 and #9.  On the other hand, his very distinctive white headed Taylor Made R11 driver proved to be a non show throughout the round.

-Found out one of the secrets to Joe Allen's extra length off the tee box: he had Short Jeffers put a one inch extension in the shaft making it a 47" club.  Makes sense - I've been using a 48" shaft on a Snake Eyes 650 head - made by Leroy Streepy Sr several years back - and still haven't found a newer club that has performed any better for me.

-Btw, haven't seen Leroy this year.  Probably means he hasn't played a round of golf yet.  Leroy - come on down and say hello to the guys on Thursday morning!

-Diane's back in town.  She just spent the last week in the Seattle area with youngest daughter Danielle and her beautiful family which includes three beautiful daughters - ages two, six and eight.  Picked her up at the Indy airport last night two plus hours later than expected.  High winds kept planes on the ground in Denver for a bit.  Stopped at Applebee's in Heartland Crossing for dinner after ten last night.  Got home in the wee hours.

-Should be a pretty good afternoon of golf on the television with Tiger in the hunt over at Jack's place.  He's four back of Spencer Levin in fourth place.  After going bogey free for forty some holes, he stumbled a bit on the back nine yesterday with four of them.  How about an eight under today and a win by four, TW?!

-Guess what?  The Wie Lass continued to implode at the Shoprite in New Jersey yesterday.  Her 78-76 put her out in the cold again with her fourth straight missed cut.  Oh boy.  Think there's definitely something amiss with Michelle this year.  At least with her golf game.  Stacy Lewis is running away from the pack and enjoys a six stroke lead going into the final round.

-Lots of good golf at Lakeview yesterday - packed house for most of the afternoon.  Weather's been ideal and looks like we are going to have more of it all week.  Hurray!  (Yes, I know - could use some rain, quite a bit of it actually.)

-Heading over there right now for a walk and to see how the Sunday morning crew - Dane Mosby, Joe Allen, Scotty Arthur and Wayne Souerdike - are doing.  They've been getting up with the roosters for years now and more often than not coming out to the golf course and getting wet feet while whacking a little ball with a crooked stick.  Bet they are still doing just fine.
