-Fourth and final week of the June league tournament, the Individual Handicapped Tournament. Leaders:
Tuesday Men's League: Tie at the top with Mark Sutton and Terry LaMar at -10. Lots of competition here with five players within four strokes and another seven within five strokes.
Thursday Match Play: Tony Wease at -6, followed closely by Pam Byron and Dick Lemmon at -5, Mike Bird at -4 and Jack Lents at -3.
Community League: Jonathan Kemp at -10 up four over brother Jeremiah, Kay Sheetz and Karry Stoll. Susie Chanley is at -5, five back.
-Rounds of the week: Dave Wininger set a new gross low for the season with a 32 in the Tuesday Men's League; Short Jeffers had a 33 in the same league and a 35 in the Community League. Jeremiah Kemp had the low net round of the week, a very nifty 26 on a gross of 39 (his best ever round). Low net team score belonged to the Kemp Brothers with a super low 58.
-Of note: Ken Hudson and Junior Byron continue to dominate their match play opponents in the Thursday League. They added another victim this past Thursday with a 10-4 triumph over Pam Byron and Anna Mosby. Maybe their next opponents can tame them a bit - that would be Jack Butcher and Rex Hudson, currently in second place ten and a half points behind the leaders.
-Of note 2: Mike Arvin has been dominant in the Tuesday Men's League with pretty consistent scores near the 38 mark. Then there is the Mike Arvin playing in the Community League who looks like the same guy but is having rounds somewhere between 45 and 50. Somewhere along the line the two will probably get together.
-Of note 3: It's dry and crisp and going to get dryer and crisper this week. Temperatures in the 90's and no rain in sight. They say a chance on Thursday but that's just guesswork, isn't it?
Coming up:
-Will post the mid-season average scores later this week as well as the most improved over the course of the season.
-The week of the 24th: The mid season scramble - two person, handicapped, nine holes. No regular season event. No fee for the scramble as it was included in your league entry fee. Can play the scramble anytime during the week though expect most Tuesday and Thursday League members will play their usual Tuesday and Thursday game.
