History Lesson: A year ago, Terry Butcher and James Hager shot 34's while Jake Divine, Derek Gilbertson, Mark Potts and Dave Wininger shot 35's. John Walker and Skip Ackerman were leading the Team competition and Tom Walker was on top of the Individual standings. Curt Johnson and Tyler Walton had the low net team score, a 57 (!), with Curt having the low net individual score, a 26 (!!).
Right now: The guys at the top are Mike Arvin and Scott Arthur in team, and Mike Arvin again in individual. Karry Stoll and Mark Sutton currently lead the individual handicapped tournament at -11 with two weeks to go. In the hunt: Virgil Harper (-9) and John Drake (-8); Chris Bledsoe, Terry LaMar and Wayne Souerdike are at -6.
Course conditions are dry - we did get that brief shower yesterday around five o'clock but it didn't amount to much. Fairways are browning and your ball will run; greens are fantastic. Expect pin placements to be interesting as they always are on league days.
Tip of the day: Keep your head down. Bet you've had your sweetie remind you more than once to keep your eyes on the road - know mine has as my eyes are always looking off to the right or the left. And when I do that, the car usually follows my eyes, drifting to the right or the left and causing some concern among those watching where we're going. Same thing happens on the golf course - raise your head to watch the ball and more often than not your ball is going to follow your eyes and, for me, drift off to the left. Remember that video showing Tiger putting and how he keeps his head down till the ball is well on its way to the cup. Good practice to follow.
