As expected, Barr Reeve and Vincennes Rivet polished off their opponents last night in Sectional 63 at North Daviess. The Vikings had absolutely zero trouble in manhandling the Washington Catholic Cardinals, 74-41. The Patriots, on the other hand, needed a late field goal by their super senior guard, Kendall Vieke, to stave off the pesky and determined Shoals Jug Rox, 47-44. Shoals own super senior guard, Garrett Bateman, had tied the score at 44 with a three pointer of his own with about ten seconds left in the game.
Note 1: Washiongton Catholic's Austin Jarrett was a delight to watch with his mastery in and around the basket. He led all scorers in the first game with 24 (think that's the correct number).
Note 2: Shoals Garrett Bateman needed 21 points to become the Jug Rox's all time leading scorer. Unofficially, he got 20, tying him with Ron Allbright who played for Shoals in the late 60's and early 70's (tks to Jim Bateman for the heads up on the Bateman/Allbright information).
Next up: Friday games: Barr Reeve vs North Daviess in the first game (3rd time this year and will be the rubber match); Vincennes Rivet vs Loogootee in the second game. Should be a great night of Hossier Hysteria.
