Bits and Pieces

-At the KIA Classic, the Wie Lass opens with a five under round and sits two behind the leader, Amanda Blumenherst, and one behind Sandra Gal. Her round included seven birdies and two bogeys.  Go, Michelle, get that 1st LPGA win on home soil.

-At Bay Hill, Tiger posts a one over round and is tied for 30th with a host of other players (eight behind the leader but only four out of second place).  His driving was mostly unexceptional: he ended up the day tied for 117th in driving distance and tied for 116th in driving accuracy.  Still, he did well in greens in regulation, coming in tied for 21st after day one.

-At the big dance:  Had only one winner in last night's games, UConn, and tumbled out of the top spot and all the way down to #6 in the Romper Stompers 'guess-em' group.  Do like the Butler team advancing.  Heck, might as well go all the way again and this time close the deal.  First thing they have to do is take care of Florida on Saturday.  Another note:  Was watching the Duke-Arizona game when the Wildcats went completely bonkers in the second half and blew the Blue Devils to kingdom come with a 19-2 run that saw them go from six back to eleven up.  The Dukies appeared bewildered by it all.  Don't see that very often, like never.

-Another coolish day here in Loogootee.  Good for mending.
