Bits and Pieces

-From Michael Fitzpatrick and bleacherreport.com: Tiger Woods: has he finally hit rock bottom?  In the comments section, the author responds to a reader's comment:
...Woods all but choked coming down the stretch at the 2009 U.S. Open. He missed a short putt and made bogey on 15, missed another short putt for birdie on 17, and all in-all couldn't sink any of those must-make putts during the final two rounds at Bethpage.
I don't even worry about his swing - if the guy has lost his ability to make those must-make putts (missed short putts on 13, 15 and 17 during his match yesterday), he's finished. A lost putter has been the ultimate downfall of virtually ever great golfer in history.
So,  Tiger, forget the swing change.  No, go ahead with that but, in addition, get back on the putting green and find that magic that has been missing for way too long on the putting surface.  And, to answer Michael Fitzpatrick's question:  No, I don't think TW has hit rock bottom yet.  That will come when he, and the rest of us, realize that the wondrous and dominant Tiger that we saw at the US Open in 2008 is indeed a golfer who has disappeared.

-The Thursday Match Play League 2011 Information Sheet has been finalized and is posted here.  The Tuesday League was finalized several weeks ago and is here.  Just about time to announce the forming of the leagues for the new season.  Look for it in next week's Loogootee Tribune (and here, of course).

-Boys sectional tonight up in Odon.  I'll be there and I'll be rooting for Shoals and Barr Reeve.  Shoals finished up a 10-10 season with a loss to their sectional opponent, Vincennes Rivet.  The Rivet Patriots, btw, have overtime losses to both North Daviess and Barr Reeve and a blowout loss to Loogootee this season.  Time for payback, Jug Rox.  Lets see if I can find a good blue/white/black/red clothing combination.

-News item:  Tya Harmon's dad taking North Gibson's superintendent position starting July 1st.  Brian is currently superintendent at Barr Reeve where Tya is a junior.  Good news for Viking fans: the family is staying in Montgomery till Tya finishes up her senior year.

-Time for breakfast, then the golf course.  Sunny already and temperatures in the 50's this afternoon.  Think we can handle that.
